The Golden Era of Fiat

The Golden Era of Fiat

When you take a look at motor racing clothing and cars themselves, there are those brands that are nothing short of iconic. With well over 100 years of history, there is little dispute that Fiat is among those badges. This company started small, but went on to dominate the world of competitive car racing.

It was back in 1889 when Fiat came into being and in 1900 it opened its first factory in Turin, Italy. Led by Giovanni Agnelli, the car company was the result of a group of investors coming together to challenge the automotive status quo. With only 150 people employed at the first factory, there was no hint at how this company would go on to see such impressive growth.

In 1916, Fiat began to build the now-famous Lingotto. It went on to become the largest factory in the whole of Europe, with an impressive five floors. It was also equipped with a futuristic test track on its roof. The factory was finished in its entirety in 1922, and from then on it became the symbol that represented all things Italian car making.

It was during the 1950s that Fiat launched some of its most iconic models. We have this decade to thank for the likes of the Fiat 500, 1300, 1500, and the 1800.

Fiat has never stood still and even now it continues to be a name to be reckoned with. Its new version of the 500 captured the hearts of Fiat fans, but its continued release of new cars see the company reaching an even wider fan base for the modern driver.
